That's my Girl!
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:39:49 PM »
20 Minutes into the morning my daughter gets her first buck :IBCOOL: She's been a trooper over the years only to see big brother succeed, well her turn this year! We spotted her buck and a doe right at legal and had to wait an extra 10 minutes to actually be able to see well enough to go after him! After the long wait we started our stalk nad almost immediatley found him in the cut with his girl friend. We got lined up and the shooting sticks out only to have him move off before she could get a shot. We moved through the cut a bit more and caught up to him and to our surprise he was only about 40 yards out. He was in a depression so we couldnt see his vitals but we had a clear view of his neck and head and only being 40 yards I told her to aim at the white spot and shoot. Gun goes off and the buck moves off untouched :bash: My daughter says to me lets move up and I agreed so we move up about 20 yards and  :yike: there he is about 30 yards away broadside. I put the sticks up and she gets lined up I flip her safety off and say shoot............. um shoot! BOOOM!!!! Buck kicks goes 20 yards and falls over dead!  :'( My little girl made me so proud! Best day in the woods since my son got his first buck !!

Nice. I didn't see squat this morning other than tons of beer and coyote scat. No deer sign at all, disappointing. My wife made plans for me so I only got about 4hrs of rainy hunting in this morning.

That's what it is all about!   Congratulations!!!
I took my 12 year old daughter out for a short hike this morning for her first official deer season.  We jumped one deer that we never saw and some turkeys.  Can't wait until next weekend when the woods are opened up!
